nixtress's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A nice way to usher in November.

Freshly back from our Halloween party tonight, I wanted to put some things down while they were still bright.

Setup: this Halloween party was being held by the head of the research facility outside of town (the one we got our kitties from) and is an annual thing for employees, families and friends. It was held out in the boonies, outside of town.

And it was tremendous. They had a massive set up for the food, and it was decorated to the nines. And the things they had devised for the kids! Very few companies in today's world still go all out like this for employees and their families, etc. They had arranged haunted hayrides, kids games galore, enormous amounts of food, a bonfire with storytellers, a children's costume contest, pinatas...Trevor won creepiest costume and Ryan won scariest, with ribbons to boot (which thrilled them). And the goodybags they brought home were cool as hell. After I tucked them into bed, I spent a bit of time playing with their goodies! Little fiberoptic wands that changed colors, strobing sticks, even suckers that lit up. They also had goopy eyeballs and snap-n-glo rods, snakes that stuck to the walls and pumpkin pendants that flashed and winked. Whoever it was that did the shopping for this event hadn't done so cheaply. I was truly amazed by the amount of effort put into this party.

I got a major laugh out of Ryan's efforts at the pinata. He was a-swinging for all he was worth.

All in all, it was a good time, and I think I had almost as much fun as the boys.

I've got one of those chills that seems to go all the way to your bones. My body is cold and my cheeks are burning up. I suppose next time I should remember my jacket. I think I'd do nicely with a hot bath in a few. I took a shower before we left for the party, so cleanliness isn't an issue, more just warmth. Have to be careful not to fall asleep in there, though. I've done that since I was a kid, and half the time with a book in hand. The library got many pennies from me for those.

Too appealing. I'm off to soak.

Good night.
