Conferences

Entry numbah 2.

School conferences were this afternoon and I'm a pretty happy mama.

Trev's was first. His teacher says he's improving in small increments behaviorally. She's seeing alot less acting out on his part and a more concerted effort when it comes to his school work. Trevor is doing extremely well in his mathematics. She said she's hardpressed to find things to keep him interested while still teaching the norm to the other children. His reading has come up, putting him on average (which is just fine!) with the rest of the class. She recommends continuing whatever it is we've been doing at home (just reading a little extra) as it's helping him quite a bit. Overall, he's doing pretty much as he's supposed to. He made Star Student for the week (quiet happy-mom cheer here) and gets to have his picture up in the hall as well as other assorted honors that go with it. Star Student is earned by kiddos who've made an exceptional effort in the prior few weeks. Kick ass.

Ryan's conference was second and he's coming along at a gallop. As I mentioned before, his lexile score was a 291 which means he's reading at the same level second graders are at this point in the year. He's a year ahead in his reading but his handwriting still leaves alot to be desired. The stories he comes up with during their creative writing (when I can read them!) just blow my mind, though. Smart lil goof.

All in all, I'm content with the reports. They're working hard and learning and I couldn't ask for more.

The pine wood derby cars are almost done. They just need painted. We finished the sanding tonight. After a little paint, wheels and some weights, they'll be good to go. The actual race is next Monday evening.

Dland is pretty quiet tonight, not alot of updating going on. Did everyone sleep through Monday? I'm thinking maybe...
