Chock full o' stuff

Oh, where to start. It's been a productive and busy weekend.

Work is a madhouse--one clerk had requested two weeks off to prepare and have her wedding and then to enjoy her honeymoon. A monkey wrench was thrown into the mix when AnalRetentiveWoman requested the rest of this month off because she swears her husband is at death's door (understand he has pneumonia and the hospital discharged him, saying he's fine). She tends to be extremely overdramatic and will use any excuse to take time off work. That effectively screwed up my Stuporvisor's scheduling and left her unable to figure out a new schedule (she's woefully lacking in organizational skills). Hell, she still hasn't put out May's schedule yet. At this point, she's scrabbling, trying to fit people in all over the place without having to pay overtime. I'm still not sure whether I'm working second shift tomorrow night, although I'm pretty sure I'm working from 3-7pm on Tuesday, in addition to full shifts on Thurs and Fri.

Bah.

The boys and I watched the second part of Lord of the Rings and enjoyed it. Long ass movie, though. Glad I didn't see it in a theater.

Trevor brought home a note on Friday from his teacher, telling me that he basically was refusing to do his school work all week and wanting me to sign said note and send it back. She also requested I speak to him over the weekend about it, in hopes we can have a better go of it next week.

I hit the roof, for a number of reasons. I've always tried to carry over from school to home--if they screw up in school, they'll face up to it at home as well. The hard part comes when the teacher isn't letting me know until five days after the fact, and when she finally does send any notification home, it's not detailed in any respect and doesn't tell me if the kid is blatantly telling her NO or if he's just fiddle-farting around and not doing it. I had left messages earlier in the week, in reference to the bad time Trev was having and I got ZERO return calls. That pissed me off a little bit, because to this point, I've covered all my bases in regards to their requests. They requested meds for Trev-I took him to his specialist, who recommended a psych. I took him to a psych who recommended thorough evaluation and off the cuff said he felt Trevor didn't require meds. So--I continue with therapy for Trev, continue following up at home, request that they comply with the doc's suggestion of 8 hrs observation (a whole schoolday) and they have yet to do so (our dr. appt. was in February!) and can't even be counted on to let me know, in detail, when he's having problems.

(Bear with me, rant's almost done)I realize that teachers are busy and they have a high student-teacher ratio. I also understand that I can't be expected to follow through and penalize/reward at home for things I don't know about until a week later. That's way too late to address a situation with a kid. And honestly, if they can't be bothered to keep me up to date, how am I supposed to address anything?

Grrrr...suffice to say I'm a little peeved.

Then, I finally got around to reading the Saturday newspaper and discovered that the principal for the boys' school is retiring this summer. I was overjoyed. Over the moon! This woman and I have butted heads on more than one occasion. Happy, happy me.

We spent much time outside this weekend, in the sunshine (when it was shining). I got quite a bit accomplished in my house and finally got around to haircuts. The boys look darling, like little boys again instead of shaggy puppies. Ry and I argued a bit over his wanting a mohawk. I told him if he still wanted one after school's out, I don't have a problem with it. We'll see. I'm a blonde blonde again--highlights are lovely. I got about 5 inches cut off, layers put in and highlights galore. Not real happy with the cut (not much of a difference from before, just a little shorter) but fine with the color.

And NOW--now I'm going to go catch up on my diaries and prepare a hot bath and soak my blonde self.

Happy Weekend, all.
