nixtress's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Holy cow. When it rains, it pours. Literally.

What an eventful night in Ashland. Not only have we had tornadic activity and storms galore, but apparently we've had a body as well.

It came on rather suddenly, our bad weather. I was watching One Hour Photo and heard this wailing. Lo and behold, it was the tornado sirens that blow when a tornado has been sighted somewhere close. I'd thought we were just having one of our typical blowy storms. Lovely.

The tornado warning has now passed and we're dealing with just basic storms at this point. My street has flooded again, the neighbors' living rooms are nearly underwater, and we're under flash flood warnings until 1 a.m. The electric went through it's flicker phase but seems to have stabilized (hence my entry here) and aside from the rumbling of thunder and the terrific lightning show we're getting, it's settling a bit. My basement is not enjoying the water, though. I had to put on galoshes (I love that word) just to get to the dryer. Fun stuff.

The boys somehow have managed to sleep through it all. The slumber of tired innocents.

Tomorrow we're back to our norm--Grams and the rest. Two ballgames this week, one of which I'll miss due to work. Damn hellhole place. I'm looking forward to the weekend, however. Looking forward to another time away. Geauga Lake is like a mini-Cedar Point and much more child-friendly. At this stage in the game, Ry's still too damn short to ride many of the roller coasters at the Point, so we'll settle for Geauga Lake this year. Plus, you can't beat free tickets that typically cost upwards of $30.00!

The body was found at one of the local hotels. Not sure yet what the circumstances are--something I'll find out the next time I go to work. It's been one of those weekends--we had a 17 yr old O.D. on heroin and cocaine this weekend as well. Last I heard he was admitted to the ICU and was still highly unstable. And we had a major drug bust as well--a fairly well-known car mechanic busted on federal charges of trafficking. Simultaneous busts in Texas, Michigan and a few other states netted somewhere along the lines of 81 people. FBI, SRT, drug agents swarmed this little 'burg. Interesting weekend, to say the least.

Happy Sunday, all. Avoid tornadoes, drugs, and bodies.
