Stuff

The boys came home from camping pretty much as I expected they would: covered in mud, tired and happy as larks.
Friday night (unbeknownst to any of us back at home) there was a tornado warning in the area where they were camping and the whole group had to be evacuated to another area until it was safe again. There was a tornado that touched down a distance away from where the boys were but thankfully, they weren't involved in it.
They went to an indoor rock/wall climbing facility on Saturday morning and Ryan let one of the other boys borrow his pair of sneakers---that same boy wore the sneakers on their hike later that day and said sneakers came home, filled and coated with mud, mud and more mud! Trevor was very hesitant about doing the climb prior to leaving on the trip but conquered whatever concern he had and made it to the top. He was very proud of himself.
They both said they need hiking boots, which I knew, but made it through the cold and rainy weekend with little else to complain about. I guessed correctly on clothes, etc. although in Trev's case it didn't matter since he didn't change clothes THE WHOLE WEEKEND!! Yep. Even slept in the same muddy jeans he tromped around in. *sigh*
I think he was just nervous about changing in front of other boys. I told him next time to crawl into his sleeping bag if he was so nervous, and change there!
Overall, a good experience for them.
Bran came home in okay spirits, although bummed because he never got to text his crush. He seems to be bouncing back okay though so it's all good.
I had a PTO meeting last night that was interesting. We had election of officers and there were a couple of women there who don't normally come to PTO meetings and they apparently did NOT like the idea of co-chairs for president. In fact, they made a pretty big stink about it, to the degree that finally both the current president and I said "nevermind" and it ends up that I'm president. Granted, the reasons why we were wanting a co-chair are things that should be covered by the vice president BUT our vp isn't going to be around for most of the school year next year (she says) and I was hoping to avoid any issues with that. Part of what irritated me about the situation so badly, though, was one of the women making the stink was one who'd been asked if she wanted to be president before I agreed to and she turned it down! If she wanted to have an impact, she should have taken on the job and I'd have been more than happy to support that. One of the main reasons I'm president now is because no one else would step up and take the position! Arg. Just another indication that you can't please everyone, no matter how hard you try or how much you'd like to.
This is going to be interesting!
In other news...there really isn't any. Things continue to speed along. Life is interesting. My lilacs are coming along nicely. It's all good.
Happy Wednesday!!
