3 whole weeks already?

Holy Cow!!!
Three weeks since my last update.
In all actuality, the lack of entries has not been because things have been hopping overly. I think it's probably more that there hasn't been a whole heck of a lot going on!
Well...not much more than our normal, I guess. Typical issues with Bran's dad, etc.
Let's see...
Ryan's teacher was in a car accident the day before school let out for Christmas break (she hit a house!! Supposedly her brakes went out but I haven't heard a clear description of events so I'm not really sure) and has yet to return to school. In fact, according to the sub they have, Ry's teacher won't be coming back until after April. APRIL. And yet, by all accounts, said teacher suffered no physcial injuries from this accident. I'm thinking (and if you knew this teacher, you would too) she's had a nervous breakdown.
Bottom line, you'd think the school would have notified parents that our kiddos were going to be enjoying a long-term substitute. That, however, hasn't happened.
I've become involved in a Parent Mentor group and met our governor's wife this week. She is the head of our group, state-wise, and was in town to give a talk about securing funding for programs, points of interest and concern, etc. It was a great session, very informative and she really seems to have the best interest of Ohio families as her goal.
Bran and Ry are on restriction due to grades. Long story short, they slipped up the weeks close to Christmas and are having to pay the price for it now. I'm pretty strict in regard to grades and I know what my sons are capable of and the grades they brought home just weren't their best efforts.
Trevor and I made a trip to the ER on Wednesday of this week. Due to crappy weather, the boys have been pent up inside for way too many days now and were chasing each other 'round the house with Nerf guns. Some of these have suction cup darts, some have a velcro tip on them as they're meant to shoot at a specific target (not meant to be my sons' faces). Can you see what's coming?
Yep, Bran popped off a shot and hit Trev square in the eye. Trev started squalling like a banshee, holdind his eye with tears streaming down his face. Half an hour later, calmed down, he couldn't open the eye for more than a blink and said when he did, he couldn't see out of it.
Off we trotted to an overflowing ER that ended up even more full due to TWO arriving squads.
Thankfully, the doc up there was able to get us in and out in a 45 minute period. Final result? Trevor has a scratched cornea, had to wear a patch over his left eye for two days and had antibiotic salve to squeeze into the afflicted eye. He also got out of gym and recess for one day, as well as any intensive reading while at school because they didn't want him to strain his uncovered eye (thus putting strain on the covered one, as well).
Today they cancelled school due to inclement weather (icy roads, sleet, freezing conditions even though it's the warmest it's been in days) so he was able to laze around with it uncovered and not having to worry about school-oriented tasks.
My ex is a schmuck---he changed his phone number and didn't bother giving it to HIS SON, let alone me. Brandon was highly upset when he tried to call his father and got the lovely "this number is no longer in service" recording. He then called his grandfather, got the number and called his dad, who's only excuse was he didn't think about it.
I kept thinking "what if there was some sort of emergency and we needed to get into contact with him? What if his son was injured or sick??"
Of course, those things don't occur to him. Apparently.
Grrr...
There are days where I seriously doubt my own thought processes in choosing him as a sperm donor, ya know?
Otherwise, it's been pretty quiet. Same old, same old. I've been keeping up with everyone's updates, just haven't felt overly motivated to create my own, I guess. Sad.
Anyway, I need to shower and get to bed. Happy Friday!!!
